I hope everyone is staying cool this summer. Speaking of staying cool- how does a pool sound about now? Well, this is the 2026 edition of the Denver area regional competition of Special Olympics swimming held at the end of April. I again want to thank all the people who helped make this such a success including my Coach Greg Leonard, my swim instructor Anna Frampton, and volunteer assistant coaches Leah, Maren and Briar. I had my best times ever!
I hope you enjoy the narration and interviews and take a peek at the video of one of the events.
Thanks for listening!

My goal was to stand up this year. Kristen, my friend and surf instructor was convinced last year that I was ready. Kristen was right! Thank you Kristen Kelley (KK)!!!!
Thank you to the whole AccesSurf (AccesSurf.org) organization for helping me achieve my goal, and all the volunteers that make it possible for people with disabilities to participate.
There are too many people to individually thank, but they are all my Hawaiian Ohana.

This episode opens with a tribute to Grandpa Seymour, who passed away at the beginning of April at the age of 96. Grandpa was always there for me, supporting my goals and dreams. Grandpa was the first interview I did when I created this podcast. I will miss him very much, but he will always be in my mind inspiring me. This is the final installment from the 2025 ACB Convention and interviews with people from the NLS- National Library Service for the Blind who maintain the talking book library.
Stay tuned for the 2026 episode from Accessurf and Special Olympics swimming. Some major surprises coming!
Thank you for listening.

Please listen to Part 2 of the Interview with Tom and Marcy. In this episode we learn about the projects they are working on together. I hope you find this useful for people with disabilities, people who work with people with disabilities, or people who know people with a disability- basically everyone. Thank you for listening.

Please listen to Part 1 of my interview with Tom Hobbs (The Man in the Hat) and Marcy Renken. Tom is a person with a disability and Marcy is the mother of a child with a disability. Together they work to help people understand and accept people with disabilities. I share many traits with both of them and listening to Marcy’s story seems similar in many respects to what my parents dealt with. Part 1 focuses on their backgrounds and how they began their individual journeys. Part 2 will have the story of how they came to work together. I hope you find them as fascinating as I did.
